How Does the Tartaroff Program Work?
The basic idea is to keep tartar at bay by establishing a program of SorbayMTC Lozenge use which helps remove tartar at a rate equal to or greater than the rate at which it is deposited on the teeth.
The SorbayMTC Lozenge is a pleasant neutral tasting sugar-free product which helps eliminate tartar by softening it. Once softened, tartar is more easily abraded by brushing and flossing. Tartar deposits can be significantly reduced in just one week, as seen in these "Before and After" pictures of the mouth of a participant in an independent study.
If one wishes to have the lozenge ingredients work throughout the mouth there is a right way to suck on a SorbayMTC Lozenge.
Since different people deposit tartar at different rates, the optimal frequency of lozenge use will vary from individual to individual. This need not be much of a problem since lozenge users can easily monitor their tartar status with a dental mirror. At the outset, monitoring provides evidence that SorbayMTC lozenges are actually reducing the extent of tartar deposits and the lozenges are worth the effort of using them. Then as human nature steps in and one occasionally forgets to use a lozenge, the effect of inconsistent lozenge use has on tartar removal emerges. At the same time a sense of optimal-frequency-of-use also becomes clear.
The next consideration is where you are in your cycle of regular dental cleanings.
Teeth tartar-free - Should you recently have had a cleaning and inspection of your teeth shows little or no tartar buildup, the use of one lozenge a day just before retiring and immediately following flossing and brushing is most appropriate. The before-retiring lozenge will soften tartar and reduce bacterial levels in preparation for the reduced saliva production which accompanies sleep. Less saliva means less salivary minerals to re-harden tartar softened by lozenge use. The softened tartar can then persist until morning when it will still be susceptible to removal by flossing and brushing. Less saliva also means less salivary bacteria fighting capacity, so entering slumber with lower levels of bacteria gives saliva a fighting chance to keep bacterial population growth under control through the night.
Teeth with tartar buildup - Slower tartar builders may be able to abrade small tartar deposits by using one lozenge just before retiring, immediately after flossing and brushing. Faster tartar builders could benefit from getting ahead in the tartar softening process by adding additional lozenge use after meals. The more opportunities to add an after-meal lozenge the more rapid tartar loss is likely to be. For most people, the daily use of three after-meal lozenges and one after a before-retiring brushing and flossing will result in the vast majority of three to six month old tartar having been lost within a week to ten days. Individuals with tartar deposits which are many months or even years old can require weeks of lozenge use before full clearance can be achieved. A total of no more than four lozenges should be used in a day.
Hygienists have to work very hard to clean up old tartar. The best approach for removing very old tartar is to get the softening process under way and then present a hygienist with the relatively easy task of eliminating the softened tartar through scaling.
SorbayMTC Lozenges are available in bags of 32 lozenges per bag. In order to make lozenges easy to carry in pockets, purses, and brief cases, lozenges are individually packaged in small packets.
The one, three, and six bag offerings are targeted to fulfill specific aspects of the Tartaroff Program.
The one bag offering is intended for people wishing to undertake an eight day long "four-lozenge-a-day" tartar reduction program. It is also convenient for individuals wishing to evaluate their reactions to the lozenge and a lozenge use schedule before adopting SorbayMTC Lozenge use as an integral part of their oral care.
The three and six bag offerings are intended for individuals who are on three and six month teeth cleaning recall schedules with their dentist and who plan to use one lozenge a day after flossing and brushing, just before retiring. Their objective might be to minimize the work left for their hygienists and to set themselves up for less frequent teeth cleaning recalls.
